Building a platform with purpose

Here’s how we created a people-first platform for Carnegie UK that’s easier to navigate, and understand, and built to reflect their important mission.

Insight

Carnegie UK is a charity dedicated to improving collective wellbeing across the UK and Ireland. They dig into data, lift the lid on policy and champion change to make life fairer, kinder and more connected. From transforming how wellbeing is measured to making sure unheard voices shape the future, they’re the bridge between big ideas and everyday impact – helping build a society where everyone has the chance to thrive.

On their existing site, valuable reports were hidden away in the depths of pdf downloads. They weren’t very searchable and not very engaging to their key audiences.

They also needed to tell website visitors what they did more clearly. The sheer scale and value of their work was being lost. The website needed a complete refresh.

Idea

We started by cutting through the noise. Simplifying the story. Sharpening the message. And making sure users could find exactly what they needed, without the digital treasure hunt.

The previous layouts lacked imagery, so we brought Carnegie UK’s purpose to life—literally. Real people, real stories, and bold, human-centred design now put the charity’s impact front and centre. The photography choices were real and diverse, accompanied by engaging brand assets.

The introduction of better search functionality and a tagging system means that people could quickly find the reports and information they’re after.

Impact

With clear navigation, an improved search experience, and a robust tagging system, the new site turns a once-frustrating journey into an intuitive and rewarding one. Reports, insights, and research are now easier to find, easier to digest, and easier to share—whether you’re a policymaker, academic, journalist, or general public.

But it’s not just about better functionality. From the very first scroll, visitors are welcomed into a site that feels purposeful, accessible, and human. Carnegie UK’s mission—championing wellbeing for all—is no longer hidden behind layers of PDF downloads and abstract language. Instead, it’s front and centre, brought to life through compelling content, thoughtful design, and a clear sense of who they are and why their work matters.
